Foundations in Missionary Leadership

 

WHAT IS IT?

Effective and enduring ministry requires sound theological knowledge coupled with the dynamic and life changing encounter with the living God. This course brings together these two realities to equip those in pastoral and ministry leadership with the skills and potential needed for the Church’s mission in the world today.

 

structure

  • Live-in encounter retreat week - Sunday 5 January to Sunday 12 January

  • Weekly night session including formal lectures, brain storming activities, role plays, small groups and the opportunity to work in various church ministries and outreaches.

  • 3 weekend intensives:

    • 27- 29 March

    • 26-28 June

    • 11- 13 September

  • Mission placement

  • Completion of the Archdiocese of Sydney Safeguarding training

 

AREAS OF STUDY

The areas of study will lay a theological foundation for mission by providing interactive sessions that introduce the Sacred Scriptures, the Creed, missiology (including the new evangelization), fundamentals of moral theology and the Church’s social teaching. Attention will also be given to the philosophical and sociological underpinnings of the Australian context. The opportunity to participate in a mission placement is incorporated in this course. You choose a specialist strand from one of these options:

  • Leadership in Youth Ministry

  • Leadership in Parish Ministry

  • Leadership in new Ecclesial realities

 

Fees

Four instalments totalling $1,865 or upfront payment of $1,770* which includes:

  • 36 weeks of lectures

  • 3 encounter weekends

  • Course material

  • January Retreat week (additional charge for individual room accommodation)
